Our company’s key personnel have decades of experience in Airline Crew Scheduling having implemented over 120 sophisticated crew systems, including preferential bidding systems, in major airlines worldwide. The management team has extensive experience in the preferential bidding field.

By bringing SmartPref™ to market we have responded to the need for a dynamic and flexible PBS system focused on crew member satisfaction. SmartPref™ is a PBS which built to take advantage of the reach of the Internet. We leverage the power of today's PC and the widespread internet connectivity to bring a dynamic response to the crewmember. With a well developed Graphic User Interface that's customizable, scalable and easy to implement, SmartPref™ can be running for your airline with little or no training.

A crew scheduling system that crewmembers actually enjoy using was a goal of Crewing Solutions as we developed SmartPref™. Being successful in our goal will allow crewmembers to live the life they enjoy while enjoying their work. Candler Brooks

Candler Brooks is Managing Director of Crewing Solutions, LLC. His 25 years of industry experience has been focused on airline crew planning and scheduling. Between college and graduate school, Candler was a commercial pilot in Alaska flying in the Aleutians under contract with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game and for a regional airline based in Fairbanks, AK.

Following graduate school, he joined Texas International Airlines as a financial analyst, soon moving into Flight Operations, where he was manager of crew planning. Following Texas International Airlines, Candler spent the next 10 years with SBS as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, providing crew and flight operations systems to 75 airlines worldwide.

Candler has since had sales responsibilities for airline systems from EDS, Idmon, and most recently Sabre Airline Solutions and David R. Bornemann & Associates, since acquired by Sabre in 2001.

Having the opportunity to help develop SmartPref™ has been the highlight of his career. Candler's knowledge of implementation of crew planning systems and methodology has driven the architecture design of SmartPref™ to the cutting edge of PBS.

Christian Boegner

Mr. Christian Boegner, Chief Architect at Crewing Solutions, LLC., is a Columbia and NYU graduate, where he majored in mathematics. He has decades of experience in the crew scheduling arena. Mr. Boegner has developed and implemented several preferential bidding systems over the years. He was the key software developer of several innovative crewing systems and procedures that have been since been adopted by the industry. His education and his background as an innovator and leader in the PBS field, make him uniquely qualified to address the PBS solution.

After founding SBS in 1972, he led the company’s tremendous growth and leadership in crew scheduling systems until 1996 when he retired from the company.

During his tenure as President of SBS he facilitated the implementation of crew systems for over 100 airline companies.  He introduced numerous scheduling technologies to the industry in his lifelong pursuit of improving the scheduling systems available. In doing so, his applications became standards in the industry.

He pioneered and advocated the then unheard of concept of PBS. He went on to develop two generations of PBS programs. 

Christian Boegner is an expert in heuristic algorithms, which he advocates as the solution to a complete and accurate PBS.

During his continued research and development, he realized the objections by crewmembers and management to current PBS systems to be true. As a result, Mr. Boegner is introducing a completely new approach to PBS that addresses all of the objections to PBS. With the power of enumerative mathematics, today’s increased computer processing power and the power of the internet, he has developed a truly interactive PBS, SmartPref™.
